Messages from your classmates and friends
Received this message from Bill's wife, Teresa. Please keep him in your prayers
Hello, this is Bill's wife Teresa. I know that he hasn't come to any of your gatherings in a while, but I thought you or others might be interested in knowing how he's doing. If I remember right, Bill's and Jack Palmer's families were good friends. Bill has had a number of health challenges over the past year, and now he's been diagnosed with a rare and incurable cancer. I've set up a CaringBridge page for him and I hope you'll share it with anyone who might be interested. If the link doesn't work for any reason, you can also use the CaringBridge search function to search for William Pohl or Bill Pohl. If he's able, I may bring him to your next luncheon. 😊
Thank you, Teresa Schulte Bill Pohl CaringBridge Page |

Got this from Mike Tierney Pretty impressive Wrestling Team back in 1965 Phil Waber Hwt (State Champ) , Tom Herold 175, Jim Ryan 165 (State Champ), Ray Skarda 154, Joe Wells 138 (State Champ) , Mike Tierney 120 and Dennis Kuklok 103, were all members of that 1965 State Championship Team Phil Waber tells me that Dick Hammer, Richard Bakke and John Ockuly were also part of that team. They were recognized at the Hall of Fame Banquet in September at CDH |
Hey Jim,
Did you remember Cretin beat Duluth Denfeld 43-0 in the fall of 1963 Homecoming game? I didn’t. Just had another recollection about that dance. I volunteered with the set-up committee. We strung a web of wires from the gym balconies to the windows and towards the stage. We then placed cardboard sheeting on top of the wire web to ‘lower’ the ceiling providing a more intimate atmosphere. The highlight, as I recall it, is someone provided a disco ball! Talk about your wild dance! I do remember my first ever date was Marcia Mydra of St Joe’s (and also of my parish, Holy Childhood.) |
Thanks to social media, we contacted each other a couple of years ago with no contact in the intervening decades. And this September we finally got together over a cup of coffee. She was starting another round of chemo and she asked we get together with our spouses after her chemo was completed, sometime in early 2024. Unfortunately, cancer beat her in November.
During that cup of coffee, she gave me this.
Wow, 60 years later!

Got this from Rich Finn. Outstanding!
Hi Jim,
I received this through a fairly long chain. A Visitation grad who graduated with my wife, and married an old acquaintance of mine from Ramsey High School, got this from her neighbor in Dallas sent it on,
Dick Finn
Cretin-Derham Hall (CDH), a merged Catholic high school in St. Paul, Minnesota, has always had a spirited rouser, but never an anthem--until now. Mike Murphy '61, a '57 Cretin grad, has composed the melody and lyrics for a CDH Alumni Anthem. Unable to find the resources to bring his work to life at his high school alma mater and not being a musician himself, Mike took his raw material to his friends Axel Theimer and Brian Campbell in SJU's music department. They helped him put the finishing touches on it, then had a mixed SJU-CSB choral group record it. CDH liked what it heard and presented it to a most appreciative audience at its annual alumni banquet last month. Here's the link to CDH's new anthem; pay attention to the entire package: lyrics, music and gorgeous singing. Eat your hearts out, St. Olaf!
